LCD from a gender perspective would recognise the need for a societal transformation, rather than a purely techno-economic change. Carbon-intensive economies and technologies are embedded in and shaped by institutional arrangements, cultural and social values, power relations and status. Additionally, avoiding risky technologies need to be avoided, taking into account that women are more risk averse. Technologies should instead lead to co-benefits and increase resilience.
