Criterion Three: Addressing growth and redistribution within a finite planet

LCD has to respect the limits of growth, as we live on a finite planet with limited resource and even economic growth based on less intensive and more efficient technologies does not necessarily lead to improvements of the living conditions of the poor and disadvantaged. Such improvements and achieving levels of equality will have to involve the redistribution of, access to and control over resources. LCD, while applying socially sound and less carbon intensive technologies, must recognise the environmental and climate impacts of even renewable energy sources and technologies, thus addressing the need to increasing welfare in accordance with planetary boundaries and the limits to growth.
